Deacons are special servants appointed in local congregations that are pivotal to its success. The Bible teaches us that Elders should delegate some tasks to the Deacons (e.g. audio/visual work, grounds maintenance, etc.). Deacons help to lighten what could be unneccesary burdens for the Elders so that the Elders can focus more on their primary function, overseeing the souls of the flock.
