Ezra 8:32-9:15
Series: Ezra, Nehemiah, and EstherWe continue in our Bible study series on the book of Ezra. At the end of chapter 8, Ezra and the people have returned to Jerusalem with everything they set out with from Babylon. The treasure for the temple is accounted for, offerings to the Lord given, and edicts from the Persian king given to the local magistrates. Things appeared to be going well, but in chapter 9, Ezra encounters a problem amongst the people. He has address the issue of intermarriage between the Israelites and the idolatrous people in the land. Chapter 9 ends with Ezra pouring out his heart to the Lord over the sinfulness that has been committed by the people.
