Peter quotes Joel 2:28-32 in his sermon on Pentecost at the founding of the church to explain how Joel's prophecy was beginning to find fulfillment in the events of that fateful and marvelous day. He further explains how the great and notable day of the Lord would be realized at the Roman destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD, thus resoundingly demolishing any barriers between Jews and Gentiles.
