Luke’s intent is clearly stated at the forefront of his Gospel (1:1-4). He provides the readers with authentic knowledge of the Son of Man. The Greek ideal was individual perfection. Written for Greeks, Luke emphasizes the perfection of Jesus. This is done in three parts: His preparation, His proclamation, and His Passion (death).
