After the pronouncement of judgment oracles against six heathen nations, Amos turns to Judah and Israel with a scathing and more thorough rebuke. God's people had violated their covenant and due to their unfaithfulness, God would be faithful in administering the curses of the covenant.

From a 21st century perspective, we need to consider the blessings that we have in the places in which we live. Particularly, the many blessings that God has afforded to us. Just like Judah and Israel in Amos's day, espousing children of the covenant today do many flagrant acts of disobedience to that covenant. Continuing in such rebellion will inevitably bring the judgment of God!
