Amos speaks to the "cows of Bashan" and rebukes them severely with a humbling reminder of God's constant and consistent discipline which had theretofore not been heeded. Because of their oppression, defiled religion, and impenitence, they are called to prepare to meet the full judgment and wrath of the Lord of hosts.
