In the seventh chapter of the Minor Prophet Amos, God reveals three visions to Amos anticipating the destruction of Israel by the hands of Assyria. Two visions are put off by the intercession of Amos, but the third can no longer be put off because the people have passed the point of no return. "Enough is enough," God says. After the three visions, Amos relates a conflict between him and one of the religious leaders at Bethel and how he responded to Amaziah's castigating comments.
