Fanny Crosby was inspired by a man's response at a New York mission event one night and by the suggested theme of WIlliam H. Doane to compose a song dedicated to the theme of rescuing the perishing (Luke 14:23). It's a great hymn by which Christians are incited to draw people closer to God and rescue them from the evil one.
